Thats what I did when I installed Windows last time and it's quite handy in case you ever screw up and have to reinstall windows.

The only problem is that I am using an SSD (Intel 530 series) and doing this lead to an alignment issue last time around.

So what's your opinion?

I never had a problem partitioning SSDs, even ran XP, Vista, Win7 and Ubuntu from the same SSD, making for 6 partitions total (Ubuntu used 3, the system, home and the swap partition)

Right now I prefer to use multiple SSDs rather than partitions, but that's mostly due to the amount of data I move around on the PC.

Never saw a reason to do so, as long as it works properly I'm happy.

the problem is that it wears out your ssd faster if its the case so i'd prefer if that was not the case ;-)
