Good, silent and reasonably cheap PSU?

Hey guys,

I'm looking around for a PSU between 600 and 800 watts, and I want it to be quiet or at least not a jet engine when at load.

I'm thinking of getting the Corsair RM650 because it has a pretty good price and has the ability for its fan to be off during idle.

I was looking also at the HX750i, but I just don't think I need a 750 PSU at the moment so I'll most likely go for the RM650.

What do you guys think of this PSU? any other good brands with similar reputation that have silence as a selling point and good stability for gaming, something which is also important for me?

Pretty much any PSU will be quieter than everything else in your system (assuming you buy something that isn't a piece of crap). So I wouldn't really use that as a determining factor.

If you want a really nice psu, then I'd check out the EVGA G2 750. The RM series is okay, but it's overpriced for what it is and uses lower quality components.

What are you powering and where are you shopping?

Most decent psus are quiet.

im considering on upgrading the cpu soon though but its not like it will make or break if I go with the 650, Ill still be able to power everything I believe

and im shopping on amazon but any good UK based website is good enough, im moving there soon

A decent 500w would already be plenty: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100b10500kr
