SOLVED

I just upgraded from my 655k to a 3770k with a Sabertooth Z77.

All went well and I've booted into windows but whenever I restart I am unable to post and the CPU_LED lights up red.

When the light is on, there is bios beep. If I turn off the computer and start up again, I get a single BIOS beep and it's fine.

I've tried with 1 DIMM of RAM and the same thing happens. I've checked the 8-pin and 24-pin connectors.

UPDATE: I've updated to the latest BIOS, 1805 and the problem persists.

Old Specs:

Intel 655k (4.4GHz)

Gigabyte H55M-UD2H

Kept Specs:

Corsair XH750

16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHZ CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 (UPDATE: I've checked the website and this memory should be compatable)

OCZ Vertex 3

Corsair H80

MSI 660 Ti Power Edition

New Specs:

Intel 3770k (Currently Stock)

Asus Z77 Sabertooth

UPDATE UPDATE:

Returned the motherboard after 60 tries and about 10 posts using various settings.

The guy I returned it to thought it was a bent pin.... I guess I didn't see it (Damn eyes)

Thanks all for all the help, my replacement Mobo is ticking along nicely :)

Is the heatsink on correctly with the fan plugged into the correct spot.
I believe so, I did have a CPU_Fan error because I had my H80 in the wrong header, but I've resolved that and when I get into Windows The cores are below 40 degrees at a 3900MHz turbo boost, so I think it's on correctly.

The problem is maybe because your BIOS is outdated. I can see there have been some BIOS updates which add new cpu support list. So you should try to update your BIOS.
Thanks for that, I finally got the file from the Asus website and I'm up to date but alas, my problem persists :(

I haven't seen many faulty CPUs. I'd have to say the problem is probably with either the motherboard or PSU. Have you ever been able to post with it? Also something I'll go ahead and post is a link to checking whether your power supply is faulty or not.

EDIT: Sorry, the forum is not allowing me to hotlink atm, let me know if you want me to PM you the link
