Joking aside you can get the EVGA P2 1200W which is a very good psu if you want that much wattage.

Hello!

So I've just finished diagnosing my broken PC and found out that it's the replacement of the PSU that I got RMAd last year has just died on me too. Not too impressed, XFX!!!

Because of how unimpressed I am with it - I've asked nicely for a refund in the hopes that they'll agree. If that does happen - I have to buy a new one.

My specs:

Intel Core i7 3930K

Corsair Dominator 1600MHz CL10 4x8GB

MSI Big Bang Xpower II

3 x XFX Black Edition R7970

And many peripherals and storage drives.

The PSU that I've had die on me twice is an XFX Pro Series Black Edition 1050W.

Looking into the options, I've immediately gone for what I've used and trusted in the past which is Corsair (how much of my PC is Corsair)!? For those interested: Case (900D), RAM (Dominators - normal, not Platinums), Mouse (M95), Keyboard (K70) and CPU Cooler (H100i) and I've got some more RAM and another H100i and PSU in other PCs.

And the two PSUs I'm seeing from Corsair that fit the bill are the HX1200i and AX1200i.

What is the difference between the two? As far as I can tell, it's the label...

Would you recommend anything else?

I've got an EVGA 750G2 that I'm very impressed with too - if they make a ~1200W equivalent of the same series and/or quality I'd probably be happy with that.

Thanks in advance!

@brob you seemed very knowledgeable last time I asked about PSUs!

Corsair AX 1200i

That was my gut feeling. I trust the AXi series well - but the HXi seems to be the exact same thing for significantly less. What's the difference?

HOW MUCH!? That's a response to both rated power and price... Haha!

Can't argue with a 10/10 from jonnyguru for a PSU. I think I'd be quite keen to grab one of those over an AXi series, actually.

Just read through the whole review... That's very impressive. What was the only other PSU to have gotten a 10/10 across the board?

G2 over AX and P2 tbh, nobody needs platinum efficiency, and AXi is outright overpriced

The HXi is completely different from the AXi. It's CWT OEM rather then AXi which is Flextronics

The G2 isn't available in my area - only the P2. I'm quite happy to pay the £200 that it costs though - if I get a refund for the PSU I have.

That would explain it. They're the same manufacturers as the RM series, right? Not as good as they should be for the price. Thanks.
