What processor? i5 3570k or i7 3770k or Xeon e3 1245 v2?

So I am currently building a new computer, buying all of the parts separately as to not use all my money at once, but now I have complicated matters by thinking about my processor more than I maybe should. I will be gaming but also video editing, running a small server and possibly some light programming.

I had originally planned to have an i5 3570k because it's cheap and I can overclock, but now I'm thinking that the 8 hyper-threads in the i7 and the Xeon could really benefit me... The reason I wanted to include the Xeon is because it is basically the same, if not better, than the i7, but it cannot overclock, however, I am unsure if I will ever need to go above the Turbo Boost clock of 3.8 on the Xeon anyway.

i5 3570k Price: £165

i7 3770k Price: £242

Xeon E3 1245 V2 Price: £229

So what do you guys think? Go with the i5 and save some money? Go with the i7 and overclock but stretch my budget? Or go with the Xeon which is a bit better than the i7 but can't overclock?

Computer Specs (The Space Fridge):

What sort of video editing are we talking about? Hacking Fraps footage together to make gameplay for YouTube or are you a casual gamer that does proper video work? If it's just gameplay stuff you could save a bit of money and go the 3570K but if you're serious about it, the 3770K.

It will be gaming videos for my 2 YouTube channels, edited and rendered through Sony Vegas Pro 12.

Tough call - personally I would go with the 3770K and stretch the budget however you can still accomplish what you want with the 3570K but it'll just take a little longer in things like rendering video.

Ok, thanks for the help, I'll wait a bit and see if I will be able to stretch the budget :)

Since you are doing editing, go for the 3770K if you can afford. I edit with i5 3570 fine.

Good Morning...

As a Devout AMD Guy,, if you want to Game,, Render ,, and run a home server as it were,, i would get the 3rd gen i7. I Game and surf the internet,, all i need is the AMD 8120.

Try for 2011 if you want to do some server stuff since that's what a 2011 cpu basically is on top of everything else you want to do with it.

Go with the i7, Xeons aren't designed for gaming
The only real difference between a Xeon and a desktop CPU is the binning process and they generally aren't overclockable. Xeon's are also going to be more reliable and most require ECC memory.
