Summary: After replacing the mainboard/battery and trying different chargers the device will not charge up.

Tablet in question is a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (2012 / GT-P5113TS)

My Grandfather mailed me his tablet because it would no longer turn on/charge.

I confirmed this, dead as a dodo. Screen would not come on no matter what. Computer showed OMAP device unplugging/plugging repeatedly.

I then replaced the mainboard to find that there were now signs of life, but still not booting.

Thinking the battery may have been dead, I checked the voltage.. Completely dead!

At this point, the battery was not charging at all with the new mainboard. (Even with different chargers)

For fun, I decided to put the old mainboard back in and let it charge for a while.

After an entire night of charging, the battery was at max rated voltage and not climbing.

I then put back new new mainboard, and bingo, life!

Booted up to whoever had the tablet before me.

But unfortunately, it won't charge at all with the new mainboard.. While plugged in it barely maintains its level, but will not go up at all.

I've tried a ton of different chargers, 0.5A - 2.1A, etc, but with no luck.

I even tried buying a new battery that was manufactured this year, same issue.

Using some 'investigative skills', it didn't take me long to figure out that the previous owner had bought the tablet, got it, and broke it 2 days later.

Store I bought the board from says all boards were recovered from broken screen tablets.

I've tried contacting the store and have received no response...

Think the replacement board is toast too?

At this point there is nothing left to replace really. I have no idea why the damn thing won't charge, and it has been driving me insane.

I will bump this back to life, as I am still trying to fix this believe it or not.

Thing has just been sitting here collecting dust now!

I'll paste a new summary that I just recently typed up elsewhere.

Long story short, I received this tablet because it was broken and no longer turned on.
Ordered a new mainboard and it was still dead.

The battery will not charge with the new mainboard, but will with the old one.
A charged battery will not turn on the old mainboard, but will with the new one.

Here is how I am currently charging it:

The old board is lying ontop of a plastic bag that is ontop of the new board.
Only the battery connector and USB are attached to the old one.
As you can see, it is drawing about 0.41A.

After a while of charging via the old board, I hookup the new board again.

It works, but it slowly drains back down to zero even while plugged in.
It only draws 0.07A in that state.

I tried a new battery as well, but that didn't help.
I have no idea what could be wrong with it, besides getting another dud mainboard.
About ready to give up, but I have invested so much time into this, it would be a shame to do that.

Any ideas about the mystery of why it isn't charging at any descent rate with the new board?
I have tried countless different chargers, the cable and connectors seem fine.
