What CPU should i get

Go to solution Solved by Sam Z Man,

does the msi 970's support surround moniters?

All 970's support surround hell most cards do.

I recently bought a msi z97 gaming 7 motherboard and am having trouble choosing a processor. I mainly plan on gaming with this computer so i am trying to save money to spend on the GPU. Looking at the i7-4790k, i7-4770k, i5-4690k, i5-3570k. Also trying to figure out which 970's to get to run sli and multi-monitors.

p.s. this is my first computer build

4690K will serve you well (especially if you cool it well), the others are nice, but overkill for gaming and have less bang for buck.

Aftermarket 980Ti >= Fury X >= Reference 980Ti > Fury > 980 > 390X > 390 >= 970 380X > 380 >= 960 > 950 >= 370 > 750Ti = 360

"The Orange Box" || CPU: i5 4690k || RAM: Kingston Hyper X Fury 16GB || Case: Aerocool DS200 (Orange) || Cooler: Cryorig R1 Ultimate || Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB + WD Black 1TB || PSU: Corsair RM750 || Mobo: ASUS Z97-A || GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW+

"Unnamed Form Factor Switch" || CPU: i7 6700K || RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB || Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv Mini ITX (White) || Cooler: Cryorig R1 Ultimate (Green Cover) || Storage: Samsung 850 Evo 1TB || PSU: XFX XTR 550W || Mobo: ASUS Z170I Pro Gaming || GPU: EVGA GTX 970 FTW+

4790K is very expensive, if ALL you're doing is gaming, don't waste your money on that and choose an i5 instead. If you want to do video rendering, choose the 4790k, which is amazing for rendering!

i7 6700k || GTX 1070 || Asus Z170 RGB || C.M. Hyper 212 EVO || 16GB RAM || 256GB NVMe SSD || 500GB SATA SSD || 12TB total HDD || Define R5 Blackout || 850W PSU

More Details Below :)

I have a GTX 970, and honestly, i would go with the 4790k if you can get it for the right price.

Any i5 is great for the price, but i fear that it isn't as "future-proof" as much as the i7 is.

I know nothing in tech is "future-proof", but i try to make my stuff last as long as i can before upgrading
