Hello, does anyone know of any good thunderbolt external gpus? thinking about dropping my tower all together as gaming has been slowing down lately, just keeping the gpu in a tunderbolt dock of some sorts to game on with a windows boot on my macbook pro 13" as the cpu is not to bad honestly, it just needs a gpu, so, question is, does this exist? and how well does it work, price etc

For my build with a mini GTX970 inside the AKiTiO I would estimate 600€.

You can calculate:

- AKiTiO = 240€

- PSU = 20-30€

- GTX970 = 320€

- Screws, cable,... = 20€

For faster GPUs you will need a better PSU and by that that price will increase. So you can calculate it by yourself with the AKiTiO as the foundation.

Here is my finished build running 3dMark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOPKd-YBX_s

Ok, that should work ;)
Keep in mind that you will have to apply the paper clip trick to make the PSU start (or buy an adapter).

Since the Gigabyte cards are extremely long, you will have to bend open the inner cage and you will not be able to close the case!

You should also make a molex to barrel plug to power the AKiTiO with the Corsair PSU!

Oh I see, maybe I'll have to get the dremel out and do some work on a custom case then, might aswell give it a little personality :) sounds like this is gonna be great project for me in the near future
