New PC Build

Go to solution Solved by MattTheMayor,

Please, I am new to building pc's, if you have any sudgestions tell me in the comments.

A few questions I have:

Will the graphics card be able to run newer games at a medium to high graphics level?

Do I need to pick up an after market cooler or not?

Does my power supply work well with this build?

Is my Mother Board over board for my set up?

The first one is better. If you want a real gaming PC, do not get AMD. Also, do not get a GTX 960. The R9 280x is so much better.

Will the graphics card be able to run newer games at a medium to high graphics level? Yes, but the 280x is better

Do I need to pick up an after market cooler or not? No, the 6300 comes with one, but it sounds like a jet engine

Does my power supply work well with this build? Yes, but dont get a $90 one... for that build you can get a PSU for $60

Is my Mother Board over board for my set up? lol what

Anyway, I can make a list for you. What is your budget?

I've heard windows 8 doesnt make much of a difference and I think that the newer games coming out will be able to run on windows 7. I like windows 7 because it is what I know my way around but I would be willing to use windows 8 and am still considering it.

Thank you for your help.

Also one question I have had is why do people sudgest using two storages? I have seen one used for the opperating system and the other for normal storage but I don't understand why people do this.

Cost. Ideally one would get a 1TB ssd. But the cost is generally prohibitive. A 240GB+ ssd with a 1TB hdd fits in many budgets. Of course if one does not need 1TB of storage, then there is little need to include the hdd.

Couldnt I just put the operating system on the HDD and not get the SSD?

Only for boot time though? because if it is I think I can do with out it unless it helps with other things.

it loads everything much much faster. very beneficial for long loading games like gmod, battlefield, and gta v. also it is quiet and can take a beating and still work x]

I don't think I will because of what happened with windows 8 when it came out. Which was, many of the new games couldnt run on windows 8. I do like windows 10 alot but I dont want to have to wait for games to start beingg compatiable with windows 10.

But would I be able to download windows 7 on the SSD and keep all my other info on my HDD and when windows 10 is out for a while, upgrade my windows 7 to windows 10 on the SSD with out fully wiping because all of real data would be in the HDD? Im pretty much asking if I can upgrade from windows 7 to 10 without wiping in the future?

Using this and some personal prefinces in mind I came up with this:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mmPq8d

Do I need an after market cpu cooler?

I think I might take you up on that offer when you said you can show me how to download windows 7 for $15, if you are still willing to do it.

You could. However you would have a much poorer performing system. Browsing, general work (file load, save, copy especially), booting, and game loading are all much faster with an ssd.
