BSoD issues galore

OS - Windows 7 Ultimate

Architecture - x64

Original OS Installed - Windows 7 Professional x64

OEM or Retail -  Retail (Recovery Disk to re-install OEM is dead)

Age of system - 6 years

Age of OS - 1 day old (installed yesterday)

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 @ 2.13 GHz

Video Card Model - nVidia GeForce GT 240M

System Manufacturer - ASUS

Exact Model Number - N61Vn

Laptop or Desktop - Laptop

 

There are 3 BSoDs that occured recently (while updating the system): one with AsDsm.sys (fixed by renaming AsDsm.sys to AsDsm.old, as recommended by Microsoft Knowledge Base), and 2 which listed below: a Ntfs.sys and ataport.sys.
