Hello all,

I found a video on YouTube and found that a person with the same laptop as I do had upgraded their cpu into an AMD A10-4600m from an AMD A6-4400m I looked inside and it's definitely possible to take out the cpu by unscrewing a few screws. Looking through eBay, I saw that an A10-4600m is about $30. Before I actually do it I wanted to know if I could actually do this and will it work? Would I have to install the drivers manually? And if so do you guys have any idea where I could possibly get it? My laptop is a Toshiba C855D-S5209. As for the YouTube video, you could search the laptop there and it should show up as a cpu upgrade

you probably doesn't need a cpu upgrade anyway

I don't know what you're doing with your laptop but I'd say that a clean install of windows would make your pc run like a monster.

I just wanted to know if it's possible to actually do this task and how to go about doing this correctly so it actually works (including drivers) since the person in the video didn't actually show him doing it through the whole process.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey I'm back again.  So I went through the process of replacing my cpu from an A6-4400m to a A10-4600m.  All seemed good until it got into the desktop where I had to install drivers.  After that, it would ask to restart and would never boot up.  It would just crash.  Booting to safe mode is still functional and I have made sure that the BIOS is updated to its latest which is 6.20.  When I switch the cpu's back the laptop would boot again.  I've even tried uninstalling the drivers and installing them manually to no avail.  I have no idea what could have gone wrong.

Any suggestions?
