I have been pondering over cooling for quite a while now. I've gone from wanting a 212X to a R1 Ultimate to a H100i to a X61 to a X41 to a H80 GT to a H100i GTX... the list goes on for quite a while.

Would a cooler cheaper than a H100i or X61 like a 280L be better than them when some nice SP140s are put on there?

The H100i and H100i GTX have been dropped in price quite a bit recently, but their fans are loud as hell...Worth the noise?

For just some light overclocking, would something like a H80i GT be fine? Or, the Raijintek TRITON is only $120, would that be a viable option?

So, what is in your opinion the best solution for cooling? Would a lesser AIO with better fans be better than a more upmarket AIO? I will take all ideas into consideration.

the default fans are actually better (at cooling) on the AIOs, faster and louder.

The Air coolers are almost always going to be better performance per dollar, and have no drastic point of failure.

I'd say the R1 Ultimate would be the best thing to get (if you have low profile ram AKA heatspeader barely goes above the PCB, R1 Universal if not), performs fantastically on my 4690K (keeps it under 45°C in GTA V only just hits 70 during stress-tests at my OC)

Getting positive vibes for the R1! What about corsair vengeance pro? It'sl low but I'm not sure if it's low enough.

Also, 45 degrees? What's your overclock?

Well, in that case for much less than any AIO and those kind of temps I'll take it!

R1 Ultimate it is!

What about my RAM Vengeance Pro? I can switch to Fury if necessary. I think I'll do it anyway...

If it's the ones that look like THIS then, no it won't fit

Ok, I'll just get some Kingston Fury White Series then. It's ok, they're cheaper and come at a high clock speed. So it's all good :D
