I have been looking into overclocking my GPU. Watched a few how to videos to get a gist of things, but one thing I am still unclear on is how to i know i have maxed out my memory clock.

i have the gigabyte 960 wind force ( the one with three fans ) and online i can see people are roughly getting a core clock of around +100mhz and saw somewhere one here a memory clock of +600mhz. That seems like quite the increase and it just makes me a little uncomfortable. Is such a increase okay?

If the "Slider" has been cranked to the right, you've maxed it out, but it's still in "Safe" overclocking feature. If you want to turn it off you can, to push it even further (NOT recommended).

Pushing it +600MHz is okay if the GPU is stable, if it's not then it's not okay (increase voltage to fix but don't go crazy on this).

In terms of overclocking you can only know when it is maxed out if you go past the max ... the screen will have artifacting and the computer might even reboot itself. At that point yoiu shoul go back to the last stable setup with no artifacting. Make sure to do small increases and keep track of what the last safe overclock was so you don't have to do the whole process over again.

snip

If it's stable try to squeeze it a bit more, if it becomes unstable then return to previous stable clock and stop / increase voltage (again, don't go crazy here).
