Graphics Card Upgrade

Go to solution Solved by Opcode,

Probably the GTX 970 would be the ideal card to get. It's not stupid expensive and once overclocked it can match it's big brother (GTX 980) in performance.

Hi, I plan on starting a new custom build to upgrade from my current Machine.

Current System Specs:
Processor - Intel Quad Core i5-3450 CPU 3.10GHz
RAM - 8G of Generic DDR2 Ram
Mobo - (Very low end, cannot remember what it is)
PSU - 650W
HDD - 1TB
GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti

The new System Specs I plan to Build with are as Follows:
RAM - Kingston HyperX FURY 2x8G Sticks
Motherboard - Asus Maximus VI Hero
Processor - Intel Core-i7-4790k
PSU - Any Suggestions?
SSD - Intel 730 Series 240G
GPU - I plan on using my current GTX 750Ti but I want to know if I "Should" upgrade that as well or not.
I have no problems with it at the moment as Grapics are not a BIG deal to me, I just want to be able to run games with decent performance.
If you guys suggest I should Upgrade it what Card/s should I look into?.

Thanks.

Budget/Location?

also lower down the motherboard and get a better gfx card.

as the games are coming out, it's beneficial to upgrade.

Honestly... 16 GBs of ram.. A new GPU. 650w is fine, go for a Samsung 850 series SSD. Don't really need to spen more then $150 on a z97 board.

i7-6700k  Cooling: Deepcool Captain 240EX White GPU: GTX 1080Ti EVGA FTW3 Mobo: AsRock Z170 Extreme4 Case: Phanteks P400s TG Special Black/White PSU: EVGA 850w GQ Ram: 64GB (3200Mhz 16x4 Corsair Vengeance RGB) Storage 1x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 240GBSandisk SSDPlus, 480GB OCZ Trion 150, 1TB Crucial NVMe

@ MattTheMayor - I currently live in Alabama and my budget is $1000 USD.

I'm not looking for maximum performance or anything, just something decent that will run some newer games smoothly.

The two reasons I am buiding a new machine is because I want to have a futureproofed build and because I want to build one myself, from the ground up.

Thanks for the Suggestions Opcode and DarkBlade2117, I think I will go with the 970 and a Samsung 850 SSD.

Now, as far as motherboards, do you guys have any recommendations for those?
