The question is very simple. It is all about the drivers?I plan to get a new graphics card(an amd 7970 or a gtx 770) and i tend to get one from nvidia since i got bad results with amd drivers.Always bugs, bad aa,bad shadows, random lines....and if you are wondering i use an old card is a His 5750 and is a crap(My pc is 4 years old so yeah...).Could it be because of the old card?Would it worth to get a card from nvidia or just a higher amd card?Does the drivers make a big difference in performance?

Ps:For those how may know i think that you remember omegadrivers right? What you think about them?

I've switched from Nvidia to AMD a few months ago (670 to a 7950) and I have had a much better experience with the AMD drivers, especially on battlefield 3.

Bad shadows, bad aa and random lines have nothing to do with drivers, shadow and anti aliasing quality are entirely dependent on the game, I'm not quite sure what you mean by random lines, could be the card is dying.

I haven't encountered any bugs with the AMD drivers.

I have used both nvidia and amd cards in recent years and i have had good experiences with both, driver issues are rare on both sides and aren't as dramatic as they used to be.
So don't worry too much about the drivers, look at the performance, the features and go from there.

Actually it have.I remember when i bought the card i had no bad shadows or aa(because of bugged aa i see shadows as little lines and not all shadows just a few kind of them) then i switched to a type of driver and boom.Bad fps and all these errors. The card is not dead...well not yet but something is not good.In past few week my fps has dropped too much in certain games. It may be the windows or the drivers because i use to update it every time.I really don't know what's going on...

I think people mistake a lot of things for bad drivers, none of the issues you've mentioned are drive related except perhaps the bugs, but without knowing the nature of these bugs I can't confirm if they're indeed driver related or not.

There are too many variables here, blaming everything on the drivers is illogical.

In what game are you having this "AA Bug" that ruins shadows, bad FPS could be because of the in-game settings your using, remember the 5750 is quite an old card and it wasn't a high end card even when it was new.

I know is a crap but..how can i tell you.You have certain shadows on walls you know shadows not generated by the direct source of the light but put there by algorithm.I will give you an example if you have ever plaid world of warcraft you know that at the edges if the water is some kind of texture well that texture for me once was...transparent i could see the water near my character as pixels, lines then i changed the drivers and it was gone.Same for some other games.I know is sounds weird but i don't know why was that happening. That's why i am so curious about all these drivers and the influence they made over performance and the card itself.

Ok could you do me a favor, download and run 3DMark Vantage and tell me if you get any similar issues.

The type of shadows you're talking about are called "Ambient Occlusion" , I've never played world of warcarft so I'm not sure if the game even has ambient occlusion, usually ambient occlusion is only available on very intensive games like Crysis 3 and Far Cry 3.

In any case, you clearly want to upgrade your aging graphics card which is good, I would recommend waiting until September, so two months from now, that's when AMD is revealing the 9000 series, even if you don't end up buying a 9000 series cards, you will benefit from any price-cuts Nvidia makes on the GTX 770 and the 780. So it's worth the wait either way.
