Today, I was playing CS:GO and saw that my frames weren't going over 450 FPS with my i7-4790K(not overclocked) and GTX 970(overclocked). I was completely infuriated(Jokes). Seriously though, I've noticed that the computer has gotten louder and not cooler at all, sitting 50 degrees idle with a Hyper 212 EVO.

I've recently built a G3258 build and overclocked it and saw the performance improvements in games, not just CS:GO, and in desktop usage too.

So I decided that I'm going to overclock the CPU + (and also in order to overclock it) buy a new cooler to possibly reduce noise and temperature.

I have an Asus Maximus 7 Hero motherboard inside a Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 case. I've heard the H100i is loud, and for the money, compared to the 212 Evo, doesn't make up for the performance. Previously I've looked into the x61 Kraken. Will the x61 Kraken fit in my computer?

However, I also think that the x61 Kraken is on the more expensive side. Does the performance make up for its cost?

Any other suggestions?

50 degrees idle definitely isn't right. My brother has a rig with an FX-6300 running off a 212 EVO and it barely hits 50 under load.

Desktop: Intel Core i5 2380P (2400 w/o iGPU), MSI H61, 8GB RAM, 256GB SP610, 500GB WD Blue, HIS R9 280, Antec TruePower Classic 550W, Inwin MANA 134, QNIX QX2710, CM QuickFire Rapid, Logitech G402

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite L40D, AMD A6-6310, 6GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Radeon R4 Graphics, 14" 1366x768

Phone: iPhone 6 Space Gray 64GB, T-Mobile $60/mo 3GB plan

i run a 212 evo on a 4690k thats oc`ed slightly to 4.1 ghz, stock in a hot room in sitting at around 33 degrees and under load i dont think ive seen it hit 70 degrees in gaming yet, the only time ive seen it in the 70`s is when doing prime 95 (yes ik its bad thats why i dont use it anymore) either way, try applying new thermal paste and see if that helps or check to se if theres any dust built up in the cooler

I've replaced the thermal compound today(forgot to mention that) and checked that there was no dust. I don't know what's going on, but 50 degrees idle is definitely wrong...

It definitely is. Couple months ago I had temps of around 30 degrees at idle. I don't know what's happening now, and besides I'm going thinking to overclock the chip anyways. Any suggestions on compatible watercoolers?

no clue, im in the same spot, well looking for an aio atleast but im short on $$ atm, i was looking at the lepa aqua changer 240 cause its the cheapest 240 rad where i am
