Possibly Damaged Motherboard?

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

my motherboard wasn't even plugged into power if that's what you're asking, the other end of the cables were both hooked up to something but again the motherboard wasn't on and no data or functions were being communicated/sent or operated or whatever during that time of connecting/testing the fittings/pins

Then no nothing would have happened

Hi, according to my motherboard manual you're not supposed to plug in a "1394a" cable into a USB pin slot or a USB cable into a "1394a" pin slot it says it will damage the motherboard. When I was reading this in the manual it wasn't exactly described in the clearest ways and so I ended up doing both of the things it said not to and from this, apparently my motherboard is damaged? I'm not sure if this is true or not, it seems extremely hard to believe and I just need some assurance to see if it is or not please.

Did you plug anything into the ports that were on the other ends of the cable from the header? Cause if not, it doesn't really matter, those cables would have just extended the pins, no connection was made.

the other ends of the cables were firewire and USB 2.0

Yeah that's my initial thought is that since they're pretty damn close in size and since nothing was being powered or whatever everything should still be fine, thanks

No problem. Honestly, you could wash your motherboard... as long as there wasn't power through it, there's no reason for it to get damaged electrically.

LOL brb washing my motherboard with the dishes XDDDDDDDD just made my night man, but yeah I mean it wasn't electrical though it was a hardware like plug in and possible breaking/damage

If there was no electricity flowing then it doesn't matter. You can plug a 5V LED into a 120V wall socket, if the socket doesn't have power going to it, obviously nothing will happen and no damage will occur.
