Hi ! I just bought a UBS to SATA/IDE adapter. I've got 2 SATA to molex adapters for power supply, but one i have 3 wires, and the other one, 4 wires ! (the added one is yellow...)

Can someone tell me the difference between the 2 cables ? And how do i know my drive needs a 3 pins or a 4 pins adapter ?

Thank you !

Can you post a picture for those cables? It's a bit hard to know that you're talking about without being able to see it.

yellow = +12V

Black = ground

red = +5V

When plugging a HDD in that one with 3 wires, it will run at 5V isntead of 12V

So you should plug it into the one with 4 wires..
