PC dilemna

Go to solution Solved by Searinex,

ehhh, go with build #2. It's only $200 more.

YA build #2 is much better in the long run for only +$200

I'm in a bit of a dilemma... I plan on building my first PC build in the very near future, but I have built two PCs on PC Part Picker, and am not sure which one to pick. What I plan on doing is recording and livestreaming, mostly Minecraft, CS:GO and then maybe some more complex titles.

Build #1

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Rbb3XL

This build is around $800 (Not including Windows 8.1) and I know that it would be fine to do most of what I want to do (Maybe excluding the more complex titles) and obviously it's cheaper.

Build #2

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4Fz4kL

This build is around $1000 (Again, not including OS). This PC is obviously much better but would take longer to save up for (And it might be a more difficult first build as I would probably overclock the CPU, which I'm not sure if I should try on my first build)

Basically my dilemma is should I wait longer for a much better performing PC? Try not to think about this in any other situations, and make sure to take a look at and compare these two builds (As I'm sure in most situations it's better to wait)

Do you already have a Windows license or something? Using Linux maybe?

Nope, I have a macbook air right now... yeah... One of the worst decisions I've ever made.

I would go with 2,

However if this is your first gaming PC and your moving from console to choice one, You would still need someone to help you re-attach your jaw after it dropps when you see the improvement =P. choice 1 you get into the PC experience faster, and the beauty of building your pc is future upgrades. Go with Choice 1,  and join us in the master race faster :D :D :D

oh yeah, you should get the Sapphire R9 290X, it costs the same as the XFX R9 290 (no X)

Lol haha, I've been playing some PC games on my Macbook air (Just Minecraft, CS:GO, and League) and I'm definitely excited to join lol. I've always been a console gamer but I've always known that PC can perform much better.

So you'd need a Windows license.

This is a build I have for a friend: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Kloaked/saved/#view=Xk9p99

How would I do that? Wouldn't I get one by buying it?

Yes. It's in that build I linked. The license is just the key.

Then yeah I got it. I put Windows 8.1 64 bit on my list but a lot of builds don't include the OS, so thats why I mentioned the prices w/o OS

The second on with a lower wattage PSU. Unless that one is cheaperthen the 500 watt one.

But the PC Part Picker recommended wattage is 511 watts, and I plan on overclocking, so just to be save I chose 750 watts. (The wattage has changed to 511 because I took the suggestion of an R9 290X instead of a 290, which needs 50 more watts)

Cool.

So the memory you're using in the second build that you chose as the best answer on the thread is overpriced. I already linked you a build I had for a friend. You get way more for your money.

Motherboard: ASRock Z97M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($75.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: Sandisk SSD PLUS 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($53.74 @ Newegg)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB ACX 2.0 Video Card  ($329.99 @ Amazon)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $1026.65

I'm using 16GB of ram in the second build. That's why it's at a higher price.

Oh. It registered in my brain as two four gig sticks for some reason.

Do you actually need 16 gigs?

Since I plan on recording, video editing, and streaming, I think 16GB is justified. 8GB is the sweet spot for gaming, but I'm not just gonna be gaming on this thing
