Practical Assessment task. Need help!

Hi

I got this task to do about a timber company that cuts down trees, and they need a machine to lift logs onto the trucks that pickup the logs. So essentially: Something like this (has to be portable) 

 

Ok. So the entire task is basically this: "You are required to design a model of a machine that can pick up logs from the ground and transfer them onto the transport truck. You only have to make the control/safety mechanism, not the lifting mechanism or truck." 

So, I dont have a cooking clue what the control or safety mechanism is, all i know is that we need to use mechanisms such as gears, pulleys, winches, belts or hydraulic press's in it. 

 

I've been procrastinating this task for a while now because i knew it was going to be so difficult, but its time for me to go at it. I need you guys help. In the classroom there are these loaders with clamping mechanisms and everything that has been brought in. Is that the control mechanism? I need help to know what i have to build, how i can build it, whats cheap, easy to find materials (Not using any powertools) and what mechanisms would be the best
