4690k OC Temps

Go to solution Solved by ChiefTalonface,

I now have it running stable so far @ 4.5GHZ w/ 1.3v.

I get ~60C when playing GTA 5 and got ~73C as my synthetic benchmark. Does that seem like decent temps?

I have been overclocking my 4690k to try and get a little more out of it, and I was wondering what a safe temperature range is for benchmarking? I am running 1.380v at 46x and get mid to high 80s near the end before I stopped it. Is this a safe temp for benchmarking? I haven't tested it with a gaming load yet, as I wanted to make sure that this OC is stable.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's a little toasty but should be safe.

I am currently using a Hyper 212 Evo for cooling. Is this decent enough?

yes, but not for that voltage. try for 4.4 @ 1.2 volts. or 4.3 at lower voltage.  you wont notice a .2ghz decrease in clock speed. i have a 212 also, i try to keep temps below 70c max.  a 212 is fine for a mild overclock.

You're trying to get 4.6 GHZ out of it? Noooo way. 100 degrees is not healthy and i'm surprised you didnt kill your CPU.

You should never pass 1.3v.

Also does that graph say you went over 90c??? That's wayy too much. I would never let a CPU go above 73c

Left side is temps right is usage percentage. Redline is temps and green is usage

It's still 88c

It's a bit too hot. I personally don't like to go over 75c. Even when I overclocked to 5.2ghz on air I never went over 62, but I only ran a single core benchmark.
