HD 6950 BIOS FLASH

I have bought a HD 6950 graphics card, but apparently you can flash its BIOS to turn it into a HD 6970. But my question is do I leave the original drivers on or do I install a HD 6970 driver, also will it be unstable if I flash without driver changes?

 

If you are going to flash the card it will be a 6970 after, it literally will be a 6970, just the branding on the card will still be 6950, so you would install the 6970 drivers.

Let me edit this to say that the drivers are actually the same for both cards anyway, I would just go and grab the latest version of the drivers when and if you do this.

If you follow the instructions correctly I don't see why it would brick the card, Just let it do what it has to do.

there isnt a specific driver for 6970 

OP: no you dont need to reinstall your drivers and im guessing you dont need catalyst driver to reflash your 6950

6950 has dual bios OP could switch back to original bios via onboard switch
