Hey, all, new guy here. I've been working on building a new gaming PC and was looking for some feedback and recommendations. The build I'm going for is:

Case - Fractal Designs XL R2 ATX Full Tower

PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 750w PSU

Mobo - ASRock Z77 Extreme4

CPU - Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge @3.4GHz

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master GeminII S524 120mm CPU Cooler

GPU - 2x EVGA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB Superclocked

RAM - 8GB (2x4GB) G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1600

Boot Drive - Samsung 840 Series 120GB SSD

Data Drive - Western Digital IntelliPower 1TB HDD

I'll also be adding 5x 140mm Cooler Master R4 Case Fan to ensure maximum airflow.

I'm pretty inflexible when it comes to the GPUs. I'm well aware of issues with micro-stuttering when it comes to 2-way SLI configurations, but I've always wanted to have a system with an SLI configuration. Other than that, I'm flexible on the other components so long as the price isn't affected too greatly. Thoughts or suggestions?

I see nothing wrong with this at all, You will get suggestions from others explaining why a single GPU may be a better option, oh, 1 thing.. if you want to I'd look into a Corsair H100i great CPU cooler, liquid cooler, 1 package.

Dont get 2 GPUs get one, one is always better than 2.

Also if you want to go cheap on the SSD get the kingston 3k instead of a normal 840 the speeds on the normal 840 are poor.

My Build  CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955@4.1@Ghz Mobo: Asus M5A99x Evo R2.0 GPU: Asus 7870T @1.25GHz Core 5.5GHz Mem Ram: Kingston HyperX@ 1600 9-9-9-24 CPU Cooler: H80 Push/Pull Noctua NF-P12  SSD: Samsung 128GB 840 PRO HDD: Mix of drives which add up to 5.6TB SoundCard: Asus xonar DGX PSU: Corsair HX650 + alchemy cables Case: R3 with the rest of the fans being fractel fans.

Hey everyone! Thanks for your suggestions!

Dont get 2 GPUs get one, one is always better than 2.

Also if you want to go cheap on the SSD get the kingston 3k instead of a normal 840 the speeds on the normal 840 are poor.

I'm pretty dead set on building with a 2-way SLI configuration. I'm aware of the micro-stuttering issue and the questionable support for drivers. However, I've always wanted to have a rig with an SLI configuration, simply because I want to be able to say that I've done it. As to the SSD, I'll check that out. I've heard great things about Kingston's SSDs.

Good overall specs, maybe go to Haswell with a i5-4670K ? Other than the build seems pretty solid.

My only problem with upgrading to the next gen is I'd have to re-think (basically) my entire build and ultimately end up spending slightly more on updated equipment. Unfortunately, I'm on a pretty tight budget >.<

I see nothing wrong with this at all, You will get suggestions from others explaining why a single GPU may be a better option, oh, 1 thing.. if you want to I'd look into a Corsair H100i great CPU cooler, liquid cooler, 1 package.

Honestly, I'm absolutely horrified of liquid coolers. Well, not of the coolers per se... more along the lines of my perceived ineptitude when handling liquid coolers. I don't want to end up with coolant all over my internals :P

I think it is a little cheaper. The down fall is no awesome overclocks...

I didn't go with K because of the price and i do not really need to overclock

Please make your own thread so that you don't hijack someone else's thread.

Also, if you aren't going to get the K, there are much cheaper alternatives like the xeon e3 1230 v2 which has similar performance and is much cheaper with cheaper motherboard solutions.
