OBS streaming problems

When I stream with obs, my microphone sounds great but my desktop audio sounds really distant and echoey sort of. I have tried all sorts of options within obs and windows but nothing I try seems to fix the issue. Anyone of them should have me playing spotify or tallking to someone on teamspeak.

I'm going to straight up assume you have realtek audio drivers.

 

usually you have a thing an in-built thing called stereo mix which records your desktop sound, I'm not sure but is there not an option to set a second microphone?

 

Also your previous streams aren't loading properly for me

For this I'm going to ask, do you have the stream open while you're playing? 

If not then I'm going to assume it's OBS playing it back which is causing the echo.

 

And for the distant part it's probably the setting of the desktop volume.

yes I do have realtek drivers.  No I don't have the stream open.  I do believe it is an OBS playback issue.  My windows volume was at 100, so should I drop it and see if that works?

I'd probably play around with the sound settings as well as volume control. so go ahead and do that if you feel like it.

I tried all that and it is still the same weird echo sound.  It's definitely not what I am hearing in my headphones.
