If my GPU is DVI-D Dual Link am I able to connect this with my monitor with the plain DVI cable or do I need some sort of adapter? Which adapter would that be?

Should just connect. Dual Link simply means it can carry more data(needed for higher resolutions).

Most monitors DVI is a dual link dvi.

You should be fine with standard cable.

No adapter is required, DVI-D dual link just allows you to run a higher resolution.

Ok thanks so much because if you can't tell I don't know very much about monitors so I was getting worried!

It's the same type of cable - just missing the extra pins for higher resolutions.
