Help C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop error

Hey there, so i logged my computer this afternoon and after a windows update i noticed how when i logged with my email account it said "Were preparing everything for usage" alongside with some extra welcome phrases, and after it was done my desktop was 100% blank and barely any functions left on Windows. "I managed to fix the issue with a reset on the pc and im worried that i dont wanna have to do it again". What do you believe was the cause of this issue and how can i prevent it futurly? Thanks.

Thanks for saying that i really hope it was a misleaded update. Reset works thus far lets hope i wont have to come with another one of these since Windows 8.1 never gave me problems in the past :/.
