Hey guys I'm about to go and pick up my stuff for my computer that I will start building in about an hour or so and I'm wondering, when I'm going to install my GPU block on my graphics card, I have a Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 Gaming, it's this one --> http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2014/10/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-980-g1-gaming-review/gig980g1-3b.jpg, and the backside looks like this: http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2014/10/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-980-g1-gaming-review/gig980g1-5b.jpg

And this is the GPU block --> http://www.coolerkit.se/shop/ekwb-ek-fc980-gtx-5618p.html

I am wondering, first I'm going to remove the backplate (of course) and install the GPU block, and when I remove the backplate I have to screw apart the whole card, which means the fans and all is going to come off as well, my question, when I'm done, which parts do I screw back on? Feels like a stupid question I know, I am VERY noob at this, do all the parts go back on? So that the GPU block is like in the middle of everything? Or how do I do it? ..

I'm going to follow this guide -->

He is using a different GPU block but it's the same thing, there is also a PDF file for the block I'm using, but on the video he never puts the fans back, so I'll just leave them off since it's going to be watercooled? I need to be sure so that I don't destroy everything xD I'm probably gonna post some pictures here before I actually fire the computer up just to be sure so that I don't destroy anything!

Thanks guys! :)

In the instructions with the waterblock, it will tell you which screws need to go back in. So long as all the screws for the block are in, the screws for the backplate shouldn't matter too much. Some may not go back in as they will not have the original cooler to screw back into.

Just follow the instructions carefully and take your time.

Ah okay so the fans should not be screwed back onto the card? :) Since it's now watercooled?

Also you see the screws at 10:08 in the video, the screws that are screwed into the holes where the water will flow, do these come with the block? Or do I need to buy them separately? Because I didn't, so I hope those come with the block! Also just to make it clear again, when I install the water cooling I do NOT put the hose above/beneath each other, instead I put one in the top left and one bottom right? Or the other way around, so that the water doesn't flow right through?

Thanks for your answer man! :)

EDIT: Aaah I think I understand now, the backplate goes back on, because the GPU block will be sitting where the fans were? I though the GPU block was on top of the card and not under! So the GPU block will be replacing the fans position? xD

The block will replace the fan cooler entirely. All the screws you need will either come with the block (most likely), or they may use some screws from the original cooler.

For tubing. you'll need one on the right and one on the left. They can be in either top or bottom ports, so long as any ports without tubes are blocked (GPU block will come with stoppers). The flow of water through the block (as in, coming in the right, out the left or vice versa) does not matter for the block.

Yes the GPU block will replace the stock cooler fans position :) While then u can add a back-plate that pair nicely with the water-block, im not sure if EK-FC980 WF3 has a back-plate, but im using EK-FC970 WF3+back-plate on my gtx970 g1 gaming :)

Okay thanks guys!

So to make it clear, I took a picture and edited it in paint!

Is this how it SHOULD be? http://gyazo.com/1d27664dd4537ca19118ca3914d6c565

And this is how it SHOULDN'T be? http://gyazo.com/cd55bb080e2bca43134401c66cddab7b

EDIT: 3teng: Yeah it has a backplate that you can order back can't you just use the original backplate? :o Because I like that one a lot!
