Medium levels of Gaming,  editing with Lightworks and later on Sony Vegas and Adobe creative cloud.

3. Monitors
I have an Asus 24 monitor, running 1080p. Not looking to get another monitor for a while, my desk is small.

4. Peripherals
I've got a razer naga, and a wireless keyboard. I need windows.

5. Why are you upgrading?
Switching from a pre-built laptop to a custom desktop. 

 

 

I've never built a computer before, I've followed along a ton of Linus's guides and I feel confident building my own, but I'd feel better about it with some help from the experts. :D

I like it except that with windows, it goes over the budget. I will be switching to that power supply, and the HDD though so this has helped. :))

switch the cpu with a i5-4590 or i5-4460 if you can't afford it.

So what if the Z87 board doesn't even have the latest BIOS installed......what if it was before Summer 2014. The board doesn't even have the Asus USB flashback thing so how will you update your board if you don;t have the latest BIOS to support a Haswell Refresh CPU.

I like what you're doing with it. I would change the cooler and motherboard in Build 1 with the cooler and motherboard from Build 2 and get an R9 290/R9 290X/GTX 970 though.

I like what you're doing with it. I would change the cooler and motherboard in Build 1 with the cooler and motherboard from Build 2 and get an R9 290/R9 290X/GTX 970 though.

Slim cooler sometimes goes on sale on Newegg for 30 dollars, and the Slim outperforms the 212 Evo.

I know it does, but for now it's $45 from NCIX and $50 from Newegg. If it goes on sale though, fantastic.
