maximus hero 7

Hi guys i think i have pretty much decided on the hero 7 as the motherboard for me. The only problem I have is that I will be gaming but I won't be gaming too often. Will all the added extras on the board meant for gaming effect my overall experience. for example the audio will I be able to toggle this (and other features) to what I want? Or will it effect my overall experience? Basically can I adjust/toggle all the features on the board to the way I want them and is it easy to do so?

Thank you!

I have owned the Maximus VII Hero for about two weeks now.

The "features" for the audio, IMO, is a gimmick. I just couldn't deal with it -- uninstalled it after a few days.

The prioritized network traffic feature seems good...but I used motherboards in the past that doesn't have this ability...and I have yet to notice any difference.

So far, in total I own / have owned a total of three ROG boards. I'm mainly interested in them for:

  • Refined UEFI BIOS (one of the best IMO; better than Gigabyte / MSi)
  • Additionally overclocking options and settings in the UEFI BIOS
  • More rigid electrical components and cooling that can take the punishment of my pumping extra voltage through them
  • Well laid out expansion slots for multiple graphics cards (I've ran dual-GPU configurations for the last few years)
  • Lastly, bottom of the list, colour preference (I have been a dead beat for the colour red all my life)

My two cents:

Buy the motherboard that has all the features you need / want. Fancier premium motherboards will just have extra "options"; whether they are useful for you, personally, are is a different matter.

I have the board myself and I got it on discount. if it is full price I would reccomend the gigabyte gaming 3 or 5. it is cheaper and has the same features.

But if you don't have some hard to drive headphones the gaming boards are not really worth it. (they do look good tho!!!)
