I have no idea what happened. It worked just fine an hour ago, but I tried to start a video file in MPC-HC and all I get is static sounds along with 90% muffled sound from the actual file itself.
I have tried re-installing and deleting every registry file I could find and tried to troubleshoot it, but to no avail. It should be noted that pure audio files are crystal clear. It only happens on video files, regardless of format. Suggestions?
PS: the only thing I've done audio wise is play around with APO Equalizer for my headphones.

I made it worse lol.. In a fit of madness I deleted MPC along with madVR and ffdshow. A clean slate I thought.. Well. I don't know what I did after reinstalling that did the trick, but now I have sound, but neither Dolby Home Theater V4 or APO Equalizer won't "inject" to the sound. The sound bars in DHT doesn't move. I'm an inch away from just formatting the entire PC. Oh.. I also had a fight with some Conduit malware.. ugh. What a day.

Is it a codec thing, you reckon?

Maybe try VLC media player just as a test to see if it is the file. or the program. if its the program then i'd look to see if there has been an update and if so maybe try and roll back the update. hope this helps.
