My First Build

Hi everyone,

This my first thread in this forum, but I I'm fan of Linus Tech Tips for a while now.

For the first time in my life I have decided to build PC, I thought that it wouldn't be a good idea to just buy already build one because t would be more expensive and I wanted to build something special, quiet and good looking.

My build looks like this :

Case - Corsair 350D

Motherboard - Asus Maximus Gene VII

CPU - Intel i7 4770k

RAM - hyperX Savage 1x8gb 1600mhz

Cooler - Corsair H80i GT

PSU - Corsair AX760

SSD - Crucial m550 512gb

Fans - 2 AF140 on top for outtake, 2 AF 140 in front for intake, 1 AF120 and 1 SP120 for H80i GT radiator. All fans are quiet edition, also have added fan filters for top fans.

Mouse - Logitech Performance MX

Keyboard - Logitech K810

As you can see my build isn't finished because I still don't have any GPU.

So thats where I need your help lads. Currently I'm using 27inch 1080p monitor, but until the end of the year Im planning to get 4k 60z monitor.

My options for GPU would be :

Reference GTX 970

MSI gaming 290 4gb

MSI gaming 290x 4gb

Which one would be the best choice for me? The most I can spend is 450eur. Also I'm will be adding 1 more 8gb ram stick.

Thanks for reading!

well considering ur gonna go 4k i think u should get the 290x and xfire it later, the 290x is a better card at higher resolutions than the 970

CPU-i5 4690k 4.4ghz @ 1.190V, MOBO-MSI z97 gaming 3, Cooler-hyper 212 evo, GPU- r9 290x asus directcuII (-37Mv), Storage-120gb v300(switching soon), 1tb caviar blue, CASE-Red/black h440, PSU-Antec TPC 650.

The first build has 970 so would be something similar to what I'm thinking of getting.

Second solution is just too expensive.

Thanks for help!

How about heat and noise with dual 290x's? Also I have 760w psu, would it be enough power to run these gpu's?

Thanks!

get it? cheapest i5 cuz you cant use anything more for gaming anyway, and a working freesync loop with a monitor on which you can actually enjoy games

i do NOT understand why some people are ok with wasting money for no reason

ok, if you want a high res BIG monitor - wait for the acer xr341ck ... 75hz 3440x1440 IPS freesync

Firstly I not only plan to game on that build, also as im multimedia student, I will be coding, using photoshop and do some video editing. Secondly I got that 4770k for very good price, i5 4690k was priced at 250eur, while I paid only 295eur for i7, so I think I got decent deal. Usual price where I live is 380eur for that i7. Lastly I already have whole build, Im just missing GPU.

But thanks for opinion :)
