So I received my Asus MG279Q monitor today, and so far I am incredibly happy with it. I thought I'd open this thread in case anybody is considering this monitor and have questions they'd like answering.

EDIT: Just to clarify I'm currently using an R9280X so I can't test FreeSync at the moment.

I thought the 280X supported freesync?

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

Unfortunately not as it's a re-branded 7970. I'm planning on purchasing a 390X though which should hopefully synergies really well with the monitor.

So it's only the 290 that supports free sync?

"All AMD Radeon™ graphics cards in the AMD Radeon™ HD 7000, HD 8000, R7 or R9 Series will support AMD FreeSync™ technology for video playback and power-saving purposes. So it's everything but AMD's most popular card :/

On a plus side my 280X has no problem driving 1440p. Playing GTA 5 at high settings 0xMSAA and getting a solid 60 FPS.

Wow that's really good for a 280.
