Data Center Server

Go to solution Solved by rtpb5642,

ok I see now, but wouldn't you be able to take a drive that has the OS already installed on it and just throw it in there

Yes normally that is done then people ssh to the computer/server. For troubleshooting a GUI may be useful.

Hi, I have plans to make a data center server on a rack and I was wondering, do they need to have graphic cards? I mean it doesn't seem like it because all they would be doing would be processing data, like if so then why would you need them in this case? Are they required to run?

You will need to have some sort of graphics - weather it be integrated into the mobo/processor or a separate card is up to you are your hardware.

Just curious - how do you plan on installing the OS without seeing anything?

oh god...ok

display output still required if you want to hook it up with KVM or something

for storing data it self, display isn't required.

and for your question, the old intel atom motherboard has integrated graphics, so technically it has display adapter.

but update model of intel atom has igpu inside the processor.

and again, without display how you are going to setup?

but if you are asking about add-on GPU, for datacenter... no, you don't need that.

it'll be for sending and receiving as well as storing data on a network
