yea, fill them up kinda like halfway with normal tap water, give them a good ol' shake, and when you drain them after the shaking, a fair amount of gunk should come out

Just tap water? Should I follow it up with distilled?

 

Once your done cleaning it with tap water rinse it with distilled. I personally hook it up to the tap and run warm water through it for 10 mins to flush it out.
