Will this system work?

Unless you will upgrade your cpu and overclock it (with the 4460 you cant) you dont need a z87 board, just get an h87 or sth similar ^^

As for the GPU, some say that ASUS' have coil whine (my 780 does, in fact) so i'd go with Gigabyte's or EVGA/MSI...

Build:

i5 4460 3.2GHz

Noctua NHD15

Msi z87i gaming

Kingston savage 8gb ram

Asus gtx980 strix

Phanteks enthoo evolv

Silverstone strider gold 650W

notes:

I am looking to take the fans that come included with the NH-D15 as front mounted fans, and have the heat-sink passively cooled. Its for gaming at (maybe) higher demands.

Reasoning:

fans look ugly, and want a better looking system. do you recommended doing this, or getting a different heat-sink and buying the fans after?

P.S.

I don't mind the look of the heat-sink if performance was compromised.

Also I would appreciate it if feedback in general is given(excluding the storage choice), as i would like to also down the price a tad if possible. Keep in mind that I'm an Australian citizen, and would prefer parts from cplonline or PCcase gear.

@organ_pleasin

I cant see the link, doesnt exist...

If you mount the NH-D15 horizontally (with the large face upwards) it should work, even without fans...

rig: i7 4770k @4.1Ghz (delidded), Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz, ROG Maximus VI Hero, Noctua NH-D14, EVGA GTX980SC, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB, Corsair SF600, self-built wooden Case, CoolerMaster QuickFire TK, Logitech G502, Blue Yeti, BenQ GW2760HS
