So I have started Folding@home today and get around 95-98K PPD with my setup.

Im using a i5 4670 and a MSI R9 280X 1020mhz 1500mhz

But after looking around for a bit people say a 280X should get 100K+ PPD, mine is getting around 85-87K PPD.

How do you know how high your PPD can be and how can I optimize my settings?

I hope you guys can help giving me some useful links or tips.

I'm using a 4670k and a 680 and I'm averaging 80,000 PPD I guess, but I'm not folding all the time.

These cards seem pretty similar so it sounds like you're doing okay?

Are you running it at the moment?

My i5 4670 stock is getting 17132K ppd (This suddenly spiked, before it wa doing around 11K)

And my R9 280X is getting 85594 ppd

EDIT:

Scratch that about the CPU

It dropped down to 9K ppd ... ...

That sounds about right to me - and I'm not folding at the moment. I fold when I'm at school and when sleeping.

Sig under construction.

Well that did the opposite for me.

My 280X is now at 35K ppd, reduced by over 50%

Did you do a clean install? because the opencl driver stays if you are just installing previous versions

What I did:

Removed the CCC in Control Panel with everything that was included in the package.

In devmgr I removed and deinstalled the display driver from AMD

Restart

Downloaded and installed version 14.9 from the AMD website including every package included with CCC

Restarted again

Waited 30 minutes with Folding running

35K ppd

Started MSI gaming App

122ppd

And now Ive done nothing for another half an hour and the R9 280X is running at 142901 ppd

Did I do something wrong?

I've learned to uninstall and reinstall drivers this way at school but my school was and is crap.

You have a driver removal app that deletes everything.

And done.

It started immediately at 104K+ ppd on the GPU.

I did install 14.9 again, would you recommend just going for the latest (beta) drivers?

NO :)

It is still not very clear for me.

After starting the pc backup this morning the GPU is at 110K ppd while yesterday it reached up to 155K ppd

Does this mean that the speed varies with different projects?

Yes, folding is similar to mining in this sense, AFAIK.

Okay.

I havent done a lot of mining,  bought two antminers at the moment the market crashed so I couldnt run them for profit anymore.

My 6th WU should finish in 15 minutes, I wonder how fast the next one will go.

If it has been off for a while it wasn't folding, which means that the Quick Return Bonus decreases.

The folding speed should be fairly similair all the time.

Good to know.

My GPU is now at 160K ppd, that is the highest it has ever been.

Yeah I do not stop with my questions.

So WU 7 just finished and update my points earned but instead of going up it went down by 5.000 points.

Any reason for that?
