Good Gaming PC?

Go to solution Solved by Rashy,

The main reason I would be playing in 1920 x 1080 is because I'm used to playing in 1080p on my old Xbox 360 and I don't feel a need to step up to 4k as I'm fine with 1080p. I care a lot more about fps then I do the graphics, I may step up to 1440p but that's the highest i'll go.

This should do then

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($189.99 @ Micro Center)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($99.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Asus Z97-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($129.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($199.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card  ($339.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: NZXT S340 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($68.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Monitor: Asus PB278Q 60Hz 27.0" Monitor  ($429.99 @ Micro Center)
Total: $1694.30
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Spend leftover money at Steam. I suggest waiting for Steam Summer Sale

I've been wanting a gaming PC for awhile now and decided to build one myself, So I researched all the parts I would like in my PC and was wondering what kind of fps I would get in games like Battlefield Hardline, DayZ, and Rust in 1920 x 1080 Resolution. Remember this build is strictly for gaming so that means no recording videos/streaming and no video editing will be done on this PC. If you see anything in this build that I should change or switch for something better let me know.  Budget: $2500-$3500

                                           Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

                         2 EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Cards (2-WaySLI)

Corsair CX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

                                    Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm Fan

                                                 Asus VG248QE 144Hz 24.0" Monitor

WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

No guys, you are pointing him in the direction of the "over spender" I myself nearly went down this path and believe me it's not a good one.

You DO NOT need to spend $3000 on a gaming pc. You especially don't need to spend $3000 if you are only going to be playing at 1080p. Not that there is anything wrong with 1080p, I play at 1080p.

What about this if you only want  1080p?

You don't have to spend that much but that build has CRAZY aesthetics.

At 1440p you will get over 60 fps by a lot so that sounds perfect but for 1080p just drop a 980 and you will be fine

Its not the road of an overspender its the road of the prepared.

What if someday 4K will be the weapon of choice?

Having a big budget is good! Its way good. Its up to the User to view 1080, 1440, or 4K.

There's an extant of being prepared. Then there's going overkill. You shouldn't ask what @LinusTech 's idea of an overkill build is though.

Anyway, I think the OP should learn how to budget build before he blows $3000 on a 4k gaming rig that won't need upgrading for years.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tpT4vK

This will be ample for 1080p 60FPS Ultra any game. It won't need upgrading for years as long as you still want 1080p.

NOTE: Make sure you mark your favorite answer as "marked solved" to avoid any unnecessary confusion.
