GTX 970, am i doing something wrong?

Go to solution Solved by CostcoSamples,

5 to 10 frames drop with such a small OC is very surprising!

I had a GTX 560 Ti, a fancy version with high factory OC.  I could not squeeze even 1 mhz more out of it no matter what I did.  Your card must be at it's max at factory settings, pushing it any further might be causing more errors.  Usually the errors cause instability or artifacts, but I suppose it depends where in the architecture the errors are occurring, and how the design corrects for errors etc.

Whenever i overclock i get performance drops not gains, temps don't reach 80 degrees.

I use EVGA precision X to overclock. When running benchmarks the average usually drops between 5 - 10 frames

What are the clocks?

Ive had times when pushing my card too far (did not show any artifacts) reduced its performance...

I guess my performance is pretty damn impressive (to me) so it's not something i'll worry about, i honestly just fancied trying to overclock but i guess i wont be :) thanks for the help
