ghost images left on screen?

Recently I've been having images left on my screen, it usually starts happening a few hours after i start the computer. The only way i know how to fix this is to change the resolution to get the screen to refresh (to flash black) and after i do this it happens again when i use a drop screen menu (right click, browser menus,etc) 

All drivers are updated
here are my specs:

OS: Windows 7 64bit
CPU: Phenom x3 720
GPU: Radeon 6790

Motherboard: Ecs Gf8200a
Ram: 6gb
