Hi all, I am a computer science masters graduate student and I am looking for an "accessory" laptop to do schoolwork on as well as run basic pen testing and the sort. Battery life is a huge consideration for me, and I want at least a 12" screen on whatever device. Of course, power is a big consideration so bottom line I want fast operation and long battery life. An Aircrack compatible wireless card would be cool too, but not a requirement.

ANY HELP OR INPUT IS APPRECIATED

Hello welcome to the forums, don't forget to follow your own topics.

All though I dont no the names of specific laptops you would be probably want to have a laptop with an either an I5 or an I7 in it and at least 8GB of ram.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

What are the specific advantages of the MBP 13"?

Amazing build quality and great battery life. You should take a look at Lenovo's  ThinkPad E or T series if you want a more budget friendly option. I would avoid Dell and other brands as they don't even get close to the advertised battery life and don't have that great of a build quality.

I would make sure it has a 5th gen intel cpu. I would highly recommend getting the i5-5300u cpu ... at least. I would get 16 gb ram and ~250 gb ssd. These specs maybe different for you. Also would recommend getting at least a 1080p ips lcd if you go to lenovo.
