so today i got a secondhand v300 60gb to use as skyrim drive mostly and i was timing the loading time and it was only a 2 seconds faster so i benchmarked it against a few of my drives. am i expecting to much for a 10$ secondhand drive.

note i have the graphs swaped around by accident so write is read and so on

They are pretty rubbish SSDs but that speed does seem off

wow thats some shaddy shit i only read the reviews for the first model before buying

Are you sure you didn't hook it up as SATA 2.0 or worst? Being second hand means that's probably not that reliable and such but it shouldn't kill the speeds so much.

how would be the easiest way to tell i have this mobo http://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_990FX_R20/specifications/

Give me a sec to review it's specs

EDIT: Ok so it works as most intel boards as I suspected:

AMD SB950 controller :
6 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), brown
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10
ASMedia® PCIe SATA controller :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), gray
2 x eSATA 6Gb/s port(s), red

You need to check your motherboard manual and make sure you are using one of the AMD SB950 controller sata ports, the ASMedia controller might be causing significant slowdowns. It should be one of the brown ones, avoid the red and gray ones.

Make sure it's plugged into one of the brown SATA ports, they are controlled by the chipset. The gray ones use a secondary controller, which usually hampers performance (and motherboard vendors usually recommend not using them for the boot drive).
