Doesn't mean the cameras are crap just the video codecs, if you have clean HDMI out which a lot do now, I record in Prores HQ

 

And honestly if not grading, h264 video looks fine, the bitrate is high enough for image quality, it will just fall apart in grading

If you buy a capture device you could directly buy a decent camera. 

Video without grading isn't worth it

huh? can get a blackmagic video assist for £335, or a ninja blade for like £500 (or ninja star for like £250) much cheaper than buying a C100 (which I would love)

 

anyway DSLR video is good enough for what most people want to do, and one of the best ways to start getting into video production

 

I dont see any other alternative on the market
