overclocking help

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

It depends on the cooler, but I wouldn't go over 1.325V given your cooler would be able to handle it under 85C.

I have a 4790k im messing with the overclock  i have a asus z97 ar MB. when i run 5 way optimization it wants to overclock all cores the same. to 5.1 with a 1.401v

i can manually put it lower.

question is what would be the ideal voltage?  i feel that 1.4v is to high

i dont need the fastest overclock just a nice balance would be awesome.

1.4 is way too high.  5.1 is probably a dream OC.  Don't go over 1.3 if you can.

i set is to 1.285v and 4.8 ghz runs the test great no problems i think i could go higher but i really dont know what im doing. i wish i had one of you guy here to check out this overclock my other friend tells me i lucked out in the processor lottery. im pretty sure if i knew what i was doing it would hit 5.0..

any way thank you for the advice and help very much appreciated
