My Budget is around £2000 for PC only, no peripherals needed. The PC will be used for gaming and 3D CAD modelling/ rendering, however I’d say primarily for gaming.

I plan on buying 2 2560X1440 monitors (possibly Asus PG278Q ROG Swift 27" in the future)

My Current Idea is:

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K

GPU: EVGA GTX 980 SC ACX (or should I wait for the GTX 980 TI?)

CPU: Cooler H100i GTX

Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Hero

Ram: 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro, 2133MHz

SSD: 250GB Samsung 850 EVO

HD: 2TB WD green

Case: Corsair 450D

Case Fans: These will be changed to Corsair SP/AF 120/140 quite edition fans

PSU: 750W Corsair RM

Other: Corsair Individually Sleeved PSU Cable

Or should i go for a 5820k X99 & DDR4?

Please tell me your thoughts on this build and give suggestions, cheers.

CPU:  Intel Core i7-4790K 4.4GHz | Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Formula | GPU: EVGA GTX 980Ti Classified | SSD: Samsung 850 Pro Series 256GB | Cooler: Corsair H110i GTX

Case: Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX     RAM: 16GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1866MHz | HDD: 2TB Western Digital | PSU: Corsair AX850i

Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB | Mouse: Corsair M65 RGB | OS: Windows 8.1

EVGA Supernova G2 750W is a far better power supply. You can get Cablemod custom cables for it from Overclockers UK.

X99 is better for workstation type build, although it is still fine for gaming. If your main priority is gaming then I would go with Z97.

For gaming first one is fine ... If you do  proffesional  3D CAD modelling/ rendering then go for x99, ddr4 etc ....  ( or go 5930k ;d )

Project Redline:

♦CPU: i7-5820k  ♦CPU Cooler: Kraken x61 ♦Mobo: MSI X99A SLI ♦RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4x4GB 3200mhz ♦GPU: Evga 980Ti Hybrid ♦Case: NZXT H440 ♦SSD: Samsung 850EVO 500GB ♦HDD: WD BLUE 1TB 7200rpm ♦Display: 1280 x 1024

The 5930k offers no advantage over the 5820k except for quad SLI and and a extra 200$ out of your wallet.

An i7-5820K will do a better job handling 3D modeling tasks.

Do not get an RM-750 psu. The EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR is generally less expensive and vastly better. Individually sleeved cables are available from EVGA and other sources.

Higher speed memory will not make a noticeable difference in performance, especially in gaming.

WD Green drives are not really suitable as main storage drives. Consider other WD models or Seagate Barracuda.

Whats the main problems etc... with the Corsair RM series then? I picked the RM-750 for the fact its dead quite and the fact the fan doesn't even need to spin under low to medium loads.

Cheers

Pretty much any decent 750W psu has smart fan management. Some, like several Seasonic & EVGA models, even have a hybrid mode that lets the user decide on zero fan spin at low loads or low rpm. Low rpm has the advantage of keeping the psu cooler while still being nearly silent.

RM series psu have been criticized by many reviewers for their lower component quality.

I already own the Corsair cable kit as a friend was sent two sets for some reason so I will most likely stay with Corsair for that reason, I would rather not waste them. Since i will be looking to upgrade to SLI in the future i might go for a PSU from the Corsair AX series as it will offer everything i need in the future.

Well it's and area I will have to really look into but I will added the EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR as a potential option.

Cheers for the suggestions and advice
