Hello Guys

I have a Mac Pro late 2009 mode and i am thinking on upgrading. Now i know that EVERYONE is going to be saying don't do it throw it out Mac is a P.O.S and blah blah blah. The reason that i made this tread is not for that instead i want to do see how can i upgrade the machine without having to but a new one. This machine has a Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.26 GHz processor with 32GB of RAM 1066 MHz DDR3 memory a 2TB HDD (not that it matters) and a Nvidia Geforce GT 120 512MB. What i was thinking on doing is just doing a simple graphics card change but i know that OSX doesnt have drivers for all the video cards and whatnot but there is a way to flash certain videos card to make them work on mac and whatnot. I dont want to use OSX to be honest, i have a Imac late 2013 model that i can do pretty much everything that i need to do on OSX in there. Now what i was thinking on doing is just getting a video card and just using it on windows via bootcamp but then i tough wouldnt i have to flash the card still?

To summaries my question. Can i upgrade my video card and just use the windows partition on my mac pro?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Yea I can do that but my question would it conflict if I get a non apple gpu?

Not being manufactured by Apple wouldn't cause a problem. Simple incompatibility would, though.

That being said, those video cards don't have conventional form factor. Have you been able to find third-party iMac video cards for your specific model?   Just out of curiosity, which one is it?  There were a few flavors of iMac in 2009.

I think he confused the Mac Pro with the iMac, the Mac Pro has a PCI Express 2.0 x16 Slot so he should be fine

That would make sense. Evidently I spaced out and didn't read his post correctly.... since there's never been an iMac with Xeon processors. ;)    In that case, @SiriusPR would just need to make sure there are OS X drivers for whatever he finds that is hardware compatible.
