I have an atx ddr3 build and i want to upgrade to an atx ddr4 build would it be worth upgrading or should i just stick with the build i have.

there is no reason to x99 unless u are a hardcore video editor i mean Linus's editors have 6 core processor and titans and if all ur doing is gaming even with dx 12 having support for more than 4 cores in games and i7 4790k is read as 8 cores on your os also ddr4 is very expensive if u ant 32 gbs or it if u really want to upgrade get a titan x which will make every game on ultra go above 70 fps and also x99 motherboards are about 300$ for a good one
