Hey guys!

I was looking into building a new PC. I had changed parts on my old PC recently, but I'm still wanting a more powerful PC. I also run into some problems with heating because of the circumstances of my case and the room my PC is in. I don't have a preference of Intel or AMD. I need all parts except graphics card and power supply (I already have a GTX 660 and an EVGA 500W Power Supply). I need a 1080p monitor, a cheap keyboard and mouse and an operating system. I don't care which version of Windows it is (7 or 8). I also need a WiFi card because I won't have a wired connection in my room.

Let me know what you find~

Thanks!

EDIT: The budget is under $700.

Put together a list from pcpartpicker.com and we can provide feedback.  You will want an Intel i5 CPU and z97 motherboard, if possible.  AMD CPUs are really outdated right now.

Other than that, I suggest no SSD for now (you can add one later if you want), use the stock CPU cooler, 8GB of RAM, no optical drive (get windows on a USB stick).

My boyfriend and I both made builds on PCPartPicker for AMD and Intel CPUs; I was just curious what other people would put together as a build with the things I needed.

It will be more for intensive games like GTA V and BF4.

I'm not sure about BF4. I would say save a little bit more probably at least get to $1200 and you'll have a better build and it would be worth it.. Because i started with a $700 budget myself and i was just picking every cheap part that i can get just to put together a gaming build but.. I thought about it and for me it's just not worth it to spend $700 now and have problems after a few months.. Because you couldn't run a new game that came out.. And now you have to spend more..

If you are thinking this computer needs to last a while, but you'd like room to upgrade now and then, I suggest putting the most money into a good motherboard and CPU.  That way, you have a solid platform for future upgrades.  Get a decent z97 motherboard and an i5 4690k with 8GB RAM.  For the rest of the parts, buy them used or get whatever is on sale for cheap.  When you have money for a new GPU, it won't be bottle necked by a crappy CPU.  The i5 will last many years.

Well, I can already run BF4 on my Q6600 and and GTX 660, so I don't really get what you're saying with that. Also, I could put an i7 in there, a great motherboard, etc., and I still wouldn't reach $1200. The point is I have a lot of parts I already need to build it; I'm not picking 'cheap' parts. I saved myself money by already owning PC parts that are in my current PC. If I was going to build my PC from scratch and did not own the parts I have now, it would cost me nearly $900. I'm just asking for different view points on parts that could add up differently to my budget.

Looks similar to the one that my boyfriend put together. I'm definitely liking the build and especially the price! Thanks! :)

I have only bought games (12 so far) from this site but they also have Windows 8 for USD$41. Like I said I have only purchased games and have not had any problems with any that I have bought. They also refunded/replaced the game keys that origin disallowed a while back so they do stand behind their guarantee (was all in the news/threads). So that can save you a few dollars if you are willing to buy it from there.

Anywho, if you do not like windows 8.1 you should be able to upgrade to Win10 in a few months, I am enjoying Win10 and have had no problems gaming on the preview version.
