Hey all, could you guys recommend a cpu for a 1100$ Canadian build? I'll be rendering recorded gameplay, streaming and of course gaming... I'll be getting a 970 gfx card.

An i5.

Slightly over, but this is what you want.  You could buy the CPU Cooler at a later date if you don't have the extra $35 on hand.

For an $1100 build, the i5 is a no-brainer. What is in your current build? is it anything you can cannibalize(reuse)?

my current mobo is an lga 775, all I can really reuse is my hdd and dvd drive

Nice! I'm in the lga 775 club, too!

Well, if you're not selling or using your old computer, what might help you out is to just replace the the main performance parts at first, then do the less crucial, and cheaper, parts over time. That's a good way to stretch you dollar without having to wait to see your performance gains.
