Are they the same?

Go to solution Solved by G27Racer_188,

Yes it will. Any 1150 CPU will fit in any 1150 socket motherboard.

I was looking on amazon, and I seen a Core i5 with a H3 LGA-1150 Socket and an i3 with just 1150 Socket and I was wondering are they the same? Like would the i5 fit into the 1150 Socket motherboard. I am just wondering because I am not familiar with Intel, I know a little about AMD CPU's, thanks for the help! :D

Alright, thanks for the help.

Woah, careful.

While it will fit, that doesn't mean it will work out of the box.  There is Haswell, and there is Devil's Canyon.  Basically the same processors, both are LGA1150, but Haswell was designed with Z87/H81/B85 in mind, while Devil's Canyon was designed with Z97/H97 in mind.  Z97 and H97 are backwards compatible with Haswell, but Z87/H81/B85 are not always forward compatible out of the box, and sometimes require a BIOS update to work with Devil's Canyon processors.  The problem being, you cannot do this BIOS update with a Haswell CPU.

It is best to double check with us to make sure of compatibility.
