This problem has been plaguing me for about 4 months, my build has been shutting off randomly with any warning, as if there was a power cut then 3 - 5 seconds later it reboot and sometimes it will work fine then after a few minuets it will just shut off again.

This crash/reboot has happened in Windows 7, Windows 7 safemode, Windows system repair, MSI BIOS, Installing Windows 7, Memtest86

CPU:i5 4690k (with H75 cooler)
Mobo: Msi z97i gaming AC
PSU: 600w Gold sfx silver stone
Ram: 2 x 4GB Corsair vengeance pro (2400Mhz)
GPU: None
Storeage: Kingston 120GB SSD
Case: Ncase M1(ITX sfx psu only)

I had origanly posted here, http://www.computing.net/answers/hardware/complete-system-reboot-without-user-prompting-first-build/92086.html

There are alot of test results there but nothing points to what the problem is.

Please Help.

From what your telling me it could be hardware. I would suggest removing every part from the motherboard and put one in at a time and test it one by one in order to fine the problem. My guess would be something shorting the board, if not then it being a week old maybe RMA?

I usually like to ask:

when did the problem occur?

what was the last thing you were doing before the first random reset?

have you tested your psu?

I'm 100% sure it isn't the PSU, at first I thought it could be so Overclockers UK were kind enough to offer a replacment, but alas the promlem persisted. The last thing I was doing, probably firefox. I did peform sevral virus, and root kit checks but nothing came up, the SSD is now formated with no OS on it.

Then it must be the motherboard. Maybe find a spare motherboard that fits all your parts and see if it runs correctly, if not then it could be the cpu. If so, find another cpu to test on the motherboard you have now and test it. Otherwise, RMA the board, test it, if it shuts off then its the cpu.

Unfortunetly I think may be the only course of action I can take but I just don't have the time to do it.

I did maneage to re-install an OS once with no luck. And when I tried installing a differant OS I formated the SSD then a few mins later it crash/restarted. The oc is able to run for about 5/6 minitues then the errror kicks in so it is able to POST & Boot and if thats impossible with a bad cpu then I'd agree it's the mobo
